Camping 2016

Dear Camping,
I usually don't love you.  Or really like you even.  I tolerate you for the sake of my kids.  My kids, my kids love you.  So for them, I tolerate you.  I'll tolerate you for my 2 nights maximum a year.  But this year Camping, this year was different. I liked you.   It was even close to love ... Gasp!   Perhaps it was the perfect weather you threw my way ... High 70's - yes please.  Maybe it was the entertainment ... Paddle boards, beach, lake, bikes, and sand.  Perhaps it was the beautiful scenery.  Maybe it was that I only had to bring 2 meals for our 48 hour stay (yeah, it was definitely that).   But whatever you did this year, you did good. And I'm warming up to you.
Love,
Amy

We just got back from our annual camping trip with our fab friends Kim and Herman.  After several years of camping together, we've figured out how to make it a blast:  spending an entire day at the lake + eating out.  That's how to camp my friends.
Water, sand, repeat

These kids could have played in the sand and water all day!   Oh wait, they did!  We were the first on the beach that morning, and we saw everyone come and go before we called it a day. Sitting under a giant shade umbrella, with my feet in the sand, enjoying every ounce of my company... Doesn't get better.

A bakery run doesn't hurt either!

We ended the day by renting some paddle boards.  We might have some fans in our family!

We ate dinner at a pizza place with a giant 12 person table - perfect fit!

The second day we rented paddle boards and kayaks and hit the river.  We did a river trail ... Isn't that the coolest name?

We found a rope swing on the trail. And some kids brave enough to do it!

Yes, this year's camping trip was quite a success.  We're gonna need it - school starts Monday. So when the homework wars start - you'll find me reliving this trip!
